How to Use

Preparation of the Wound Bed

  1. Ensure that the wound is free of infection
  2. Proper debridement of the wound should be performed and should extend to healthy, viable bleeding tissue
  3. Hemostasis should be achieved and heavy exudate controlled

Affinity Application

Remove Affinity from its sterile packaging and rinse with a sterile irrigant using aseptic techniques and then:

  1. Easily identify the stromal side (to be placed in contact with the wound bed) by touching a sterile cotton swab to both sides of Affinity:
    • The stromal side will be sticky
    • The epithelial side will be smooth
  2. Trim Affinity as needed so that it is slightly larger than the wound bed
  3. Slide Affinity onto the wound so that the stromal side is in contact with the wound bed (using two forceps at the corners of the product will help to maintain correct orientation)

Dressings and Re-application Schedule

  1. Anchor Affinity using preferred fixation method
  2. Apply a non-adherent, non-occlusive primary dressing directly over Affinity, which should remain in place for up to one week
  3. Apply a secondary dressing specific to the wound type
  4. Affinity may be reapplied weekly as needed
  5. Refer to your MAC's Local Coverage Determination (LCD) for usage guidance
