CANTON, MA – July 6, 2010—Organogenesis, Inc., a leading regenerative medicine company, has awarded its annual scholarship program for a Canton High School graduating senior pursuing a career in life sciences research or biomedical engineering. The 2010 recipient is Joseph Ward, who will be attending Boston University in the fall with a pre-medical concentration in biochemistry and molecular biology.
Gary S. Gillheeney, Sr., CFO and COO of Organogenesis (l.), presents the 2010 Regenerative Medicine Scholarship to Canton High School graduating senior Joseph Ward, with Canton High School principal Dr. Doug Dias (r.).

Joseph, who grew up in Canton, is graduating in the top 5% of his class, with a GPA of 3.86. His extensive extracurricular activities include school sports and organizations, leadership in local youth sports and community service with local charitable organizations. His ultimate career goal is to become either a physician or a medical researcher.
“Regenerative medicine requires a diverse team of both medical researchers and clinicians to translate the science of growing living cells, tissues and organs in the laboratory into technologies that improve the lives of patients,” said Gary S. Gillheeney, Sr., Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Organogenesis. “We are proud to support Joseph in his career goals and we hope his example will inspire other talented young men and women to consider a career in life sciences research or engineering.”
The Organogenesis Scholarship of $2,500 is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and content of an essay, How do you see yourself contributing to the future of the Life Sciences? Joseph’s essay detailed his hopes to “assist in new discoveries to benefit society and make the lives of the ailing and less fortunate better.” Joseph plans to start by being involved in Boston University’s trailblazing medical research programs.
